I’ve wanted to start a blog for the longest time but could never quite find the words to begin. Now, with life feeling a little messy, it feels like the perfect time to bite the bullet—to journal my journey in the hope that I can make sense of it, have fun with it, and share the joy (and sometimes the challenges) of watching children grow into young adults.
Recently, life has been full of change. I missed out on a promotion at work, took some time off for a minor operation, and watched my youngest complete his exams. It’s been a season of ups and downs, and I’ve felt the need for a reset. What better way to start than with a cheeky week away at Centre Parcs—celebrating the end of school and the start of a brand-new era for our family?
Both of my boys are now finished with school. They were never particularly keen on the education system, but they’re excited to step into the working world and find their own place in the community. For us, this summer feels different—there’s no countdown to September, no looming back-to-school prep. Instead, we’ve entered into a new chapter.
And while that’s exciting, it also makes me pause. What is my role now? How do I navigate this transition in my own life, when so much of my identity has been wrapped up in being “mum with school-aged kids”? It may have been happening gradually, but suddenly it feels very real.
This blog is my way of working through that shift—reconnecting with my creative side, embracing my love of writing, and hopefully creating a space that resonates with others going through similar changes. After all, I know I’m not alone in this.
Here’s to new beginnings, fresh adventures, and finding joy in the journey.
